“HEARTTHROB” KURT ADONIS

adonis1.jpg (267854 bytes)"The "Hearthrob"  was born on February 18th, 1979 in Bristol, CT  but now hails from Backstreet, USA.

Adonis is known in NECW rings for his signature ring entrance.  He comes to the ring and performs a Backstreet Boys tune and in turn gets good heat from the crowd.  Kurt will be graduating from college this year with a MIS degree.  "My second love has always been computers."

His interest in becoming a wrestler came as a fan while watching an indy show back in 1997,  "The action was terrible and I knew I could do better than the guys I was watching."  Wrestlemania 3 is what hooked him as a fan.  "It was the first time I watched wrestling and I've been hooked ever since.  Hogan/Andre and Savage/Steamboat made me a fan for life".

Adonis' training started in May of 1999 under the watchful eye of fellow NECW star Jason Knight at his wrestling school in Waterbury, CT.  Fellow independent wrestler “Hippie Freak” Nicholas Richards has also been giving Adonis ring tips.   His first pro match occurred in February of '99 against Noodles Nixon in Milford, CT.  Adonis faced the unenviable task (never mind the risk of a stinkface) of taking on Rikishi last year in Waterbury.  He looks at this moment as the highlight of his career thus far.  "The electricity when he choke slammed me was deafening."

The "Hearthrob" misses the old days and would like to revert back to certain aspects of the business, "Everything meant something.  Feuds were settled on pay-per-views and the champions didn't wrestle every week.  Saturday Nights Main Event was something I looked forward to because we never saw Hogan wrestle.  Now you see the champ every week.  It makes it harder to keep interest."

Kurt commented on the state of New England Championship Wrestling, "Everyone has a positive attitude and that is what is important.  There are no "big heads".  Hopefully everyone will work together to make this work.
