TARZAN TAYLOR
Tarzans interest in the biz came early, "At the age of six I watched a match of Greg Valentines with my stepfather. I can't really describe it but I was filled with a sort of awe. It just blew me away. These guys were cool, they were badasses, they were athletes, but they were entertaining. They had personality. I had never seen it in any other pro sport. From that day I knew what I wanted to be." His fave memory was his first live card, "The card wasn't very good (one of the matches was Tony Atlas vs. Les Thornton), but seeing the crowd react, seeing these guys in person, seeing how larger than life they were. I'll never forget it." His training started in 1998 in Fitchburg, MA and later moved to Nashua, NH. "The school was run by Jeff Costa but most of my in ring training was done by Maverick Wild." His first match, believe it or not, took place in a steel cage as he defeated Dallas Austin (now known as Big Daddy Dave Walker) in Hudson, NH on July 11th, 1998. The high point in his career thus far is a series of bouts he had against Sonny Goodspeed in the summer of '99. "It was when things started to really click for me. When I really started to get it. I've always credited those matches as when I started to learn how to work. It felt great. It was like my career had really started going in the right direction." If Tarzan could change anything about the business it would be the "Jane's" of the wrestling world. "I'd cut down on the use of females. It's not that I'm sexist, but I think there's way too many women in the business just taking up space. It bothers me to see some wrestler bust his ass for years to get his break while some bimbo just walks in the door because she has big breasts. Most of them are just eye candy and serve no useful purpose." Thoughts On NECW: "I just had my first match with the company but I was very impressed by what I saw. A good group of guys in the locker room. I watched most of the matches from the back and it was one of the best indy shows I had seen in New England. I think the company has some real potential."
