Derik Destiny
Derik's interest in wrestling started at a very early age, "I was four years old and sitting on my Grandfather's shoulders watching my first card of wrestling at Jack Witchi's. Seeing my grandfather yelling "Blassie! Blassie!!!" and seeing great like Gorila Monsoon, Mr. Fuji, Bruno, Strongbow, and the midgets hooked me for life." His fave memory came the same night. "Superstar Billy Graham comes out and what a site. While he was walking by, a drunk teenager spit directly in his face. Superstar turned around and chased him around the building until tackling him. Security showed up and took matters into their own hands." Graham wrestled Gorilla Monsoon that night and the Gorilla ended up a bloody mess. Derik says he remembers like it was yesterday. Destiny has been through training with many New England wrestlers including Jeff Costa, Matt and Kyle Storm, Billy Black, and fellow NECW star Brutal Bob Evans. "Bob Evans continues to be my trainer. Through all my other trainings Bob was always there for me to help me get to the point I am now. Not only is he my trainer, he's a good friend. Destiny defeated his main trainer in his first pro match at the Knights of Columbus in Bristol, RI in August of 1997. Listening to Derik you can see a true appreciation of the business and its fans. "Every time I step in the ring and perform in front of the fans, adds more highlights and experience to my career. I love all my fans and performing in front of them. Also, any time I wrestle Bob Evans is a great highlight for me. Other notables are a show I worked with Jim Cornette, getting several opportunities to work for the late Tony Rumble and currently getting to work for NECW." Derik would like more true camaraderie between the boys, "I'd like everyone to be cool with one another. No backstabbing, just professionalism. Everybody needs to get along because we are all brothers in this business and our main goal is to give those people that attend our shows everything that they paid to see and more. Thoughts On NECW: “I see great things in the future. Not only does NECW have the best talent in the independents today, not only is it the most professionally and well run independent today, but its like another family for me and I love working and am honored to be part of a group that possesses these great aspects. Destiny was born on September 3rd, 1971 in
Warren, RI. The shy and single guy (he wants the ladies to know that) almost made
appearances on the small screen. "I have done tryouts for American Gladiator,
Survivor, and the TV show Friends. Wrestling is my first love though and I am very
happy to be part of it."
